Kaits Home Situated on the banks of River Pampa in Champakulam.; ” THE HEART OF THE KUTTANAD”. Champakulam is a serene beautiful village in Kerla. It is in Alappuzha district.  Champakulam is a part of Kuttanad and is resplendent in green paddy fields,coconut groves ,organic vegetables and a water fowl. It is also  famous for the Moolam Snake Boat Race.

Kaits Home not only a home stay but also a part of  a farm. Inthis  farm ,  cultivate coconut, coco, mango’s, arecanut, pepper, coffee, vegetables, plantains, fruits, ducks, chickens and fish. This farm managed by the family called Mappilacharry family, this family holds a heritage of 550 years more than 14 generations and some historical importance connected with the construction and installation of the famous Sree Krishna Swamy tample of Ambalapuzha and Moolam boat Race at Champakulam.

Night fishing : This is a traditional type of fishing in which bows, spears and arrows are used.
Trapping pond : another traditional way of catching fish.
Pole line fishing : pole line fishing in canoes are very interesting.

Village Walk

Walking through “Angadi” (local village market) visit the famous Champakulam kalloorkad church, Kottaram Bhagavathy temple, St.Thomas fine arts, Champakulam snake boat, Local bird sanctuary, Padipurakal temple, etc.

Farm Trekking

Walking around the paddy fields explore more interior parts of the village. Kuttanad is a water logged area and known as the rice bowl of Kerala. Paddy is the main cultivation. The low land of kuttanad is under water, and it is one or two meters below the sea level. Farmers create bounds around the paddy fields and pump out the water with motor pumps before cultivation. People live on these bounds and Cultivate coconuts, plantains and vegetables.

Toddy Tapping

Toddy is an intoxicating drink popularly used by the people, you can see toddy tapping from the coconut trees.

Motorboat Ride

Take a trip on the motor boat for those who like the speed. In some places there are no roads here, only waterways. On the banks one can see lush green rice fields spreading away into the distance and coconut groves with an occasional temple or church.
